Every decision or investment made in the name of transportation and infrastructure is really one that impacts a community — for better or for worse. Historically, communities of color and lower-income communities borne the brunt of negative impacts, leaving them overlooked and underinvested. Community leadership and co-creation are critical to building the transportation systems that serve their needs and aspirations.
NUMO works to center communities in all that we do by prioritizing people, access, collaboration and self-determination. We support communities by bringing together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to address past harms and rethink traditional approaches.
